From May 10 to 12, the dance drama The Door was performed for three consecutive performances at the National Center for the Performing Arts, and the attendance was quite good. Meanwhile, on social media, audience comments continue to ferment – the strengths and weaknesses of the work are quite obvious.
First of all, the intention of the Door deserves recognition. This production produced by Xi \’an Performing Arts Group and performed by Xi \’an Song and Dance Theater is set in Chang \’an City of the Tang Dynasty, citing Si D \’Or (doorkeeper), cutting in from the Tang Dynasty\’s famous painting \”Tamping Map\” to unfold the living beings in 108 square of Chang \’an City. In the nine chapters, Yongxing Fang, Yi Shan Fang, Andang Fang and other Fang names are integrated, and the emotional clues of old Ni and officials, generals and ugly niang, nine treasures and begging children, knife and crazy life are microcosm of the vicissitudes and life under the flourishing times. In the exploration and creation of Tang Dynasty themes, the local art institutions in Xi \’an have a natural persuasion.
