Beijing Centers for Disease Control and Prevention: It is not recommended to use cotton curtains in public places that are difficult to clean and disinfect

On the afternoon of January 8, Beijing’s 205th press conference on the prevention and control of the new coronavirus epidemic was held. Beiqing-Beijing Toutiao reporter learned at the scene that Pang Xinghuo, deputy director of the Beijing Center for Disease Control and Prevention, introduced that in winter, many public places, including the outpatient halls of medical institutions, have installed curtains to prevent cold and warmth. In the current COVID-19 prevention and control situation, the public\’s hands frequently touch door curtains, which carries the risk of spreading diseases. Therefore, it is not recommended to use cotton door curtains that are difficult to clean and disinfect in public places. To reduce the risk of disease transmission, Pang Xinghuo made four tips: First, contact-free automatic doors can be installed. The second is to use leather, plastic and other materials that are easy to clean and disinfect. The third is to install a hot air curtain instead of a door curtain at the entrance. Fourth, medical institutions can set up tent-style windproof passages connecting pre-examination triage points to outpatient and emergency departments. Curtains in public places should be combined with cold protection and epidemic prevention to minimize the risk of disease transmission.
